The Comedy Debate: Women Rule The World!!!

Comedians are naturally competitive so what could be better than seeing them go head to head for a comedy debate? Join 6 of Australia’s fiercest comedians when they battle it out at the closing event for the Byron Comedy Festival: The Comedy Debate that settles once and for all if Women Rule The World! May the best wo(man) win! There’s nothing this crew won’t do to win.

Mandy

Nolan

Comedian Mandy Nolan has been at the top of her game for well over two decades. Alongside Ellen Briggs in their touring show Women Like Us, she’s performed to sold-out crowds at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Sydney Comedy Festival and Perth Festival. She brought the house down at Melbourne Town Hall Women’s Gala and she continues to decimate crowds wherever she goes. Wicked, irreverent and always relevant, Nolan is the thinking woman’s bogan and the bogan woman’s thinking woman.

ellen briggs

Ellen Briggs has made her name for herself as one of the best comedic story tellers on the circuit. She takes her audience on an observational and hilarious journey through life as an accidental mother of identical twins and the wife of a husband who is away working for 9 months of the year. She has made an art-form of sneaking really politically incorrect jokes onto the end of ‘nice’ yarns. She is the other half of Women Like Us the successful national touring show.

dusty rich

Dusty Rich, the wild man of South African comedy, sharp, freewheeling and electrified.  Rich shot to fame for the off the wall style of his shows, for throwing the rehearsed, practised stand up format out the window and replacing it with the fire and ice, rollercoaster of continual spontaneous improvisation and crowd interaction. A huge name in South Africa where he toured as support for Trevor Noah, Rich moved to Australia just a few years back where his star is definitely on the rise.

Jonathan atherton

Jonathan’s love of culture and adventure is at the core of the schtick for this multi-lingual comedian. Just returned from Edinburgh Festival, Jonathan told the story of his 10 years in Asia where he set up the first comedy club in Singapore.

Like the bastard child of Bill Hicks and Robin Williams when you see Atherton you need to strap in for the ride.

lindsay webb

Lindsay Webb has a reputation for the best ‘crowd worker’ in the biz. Playful and off the cuff, Webb has a natural ability to include the crowd in his comedy, making every show unique. The King of inclusive comedy, he’s been the warm up for ABC’s The GruenNation, Q&A, is a regular on the Festival circuit and comedy Galas and once held the world record for the longest show (over 36 hours).

greg sullivan

Greg Sullivan is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer and broadcaster.  In a career spanning more than 20 years, Greg has captivated audiences across the world from his stint at the at the famous Improv in Los Angeles, shows at both the Melbourne and Sydney International Comedy Festivals and his appearances on Good News Week, The Today Show, A Current Affair, and feature comedy productions such as Home Delivered Humour, and O'Loghlin on Saturday Night. For 14 years Greg was also one of the breakfast team at Brisbane’s Triple M. One of the most engaging and original comics on the circuit, Greg thinking is so far out of the box, you completely forget there was ever a box in the first place!
